Commuting to the Indie Capital

Kapitolyo remains the undisputed champion of residential food scenes, but navigating its narrow streets is a total test of patience. The streets here were never built for the volume of cars that visit every night. Honestly, leave your car at home because street parking is practically impossible and local traffic enforcers are extremely strict. To commute, get off at the MRT-3 Shaw Boulevard Station. From the station, walk towards the jeepney terminal near Greenfield District. Board a jeepney heading to Pasig San Joaquin and ask the driver to drop you off at the Kapitolyo gate, right across from Capitol Commons. If you are already nearby, you can easily grab a tricycle from the terminal near Shaw Boulevard, but expect a bit of a bumpy ride through the traffic.

The Ultimate Street-by-Street Feast

A proper food crawl should start along East Capitol Drive. Your first stop must be Three Sisters' Restaurant of Pasig for their legendary pork barbecue and pancit. The sweet, smoky marinade is a local standard that has been around for generations. After that, walk towards West Capitol Drive to find Silantro Fil-Mex Cantina. Honestly, their beef nachos are absolutely massive, so make sure you are sharing with friends so you don't get full too quickly.

Anyway, if you need a place to chill and do some laptop work after all that eating, Cab Cafe is a great spot. They have decent power outlets and their San Fernando cake is delicious. Just a heads up, the streetlights can be a bit dim at night, so keep an eye on your belongings while walking from place to place. The residential charm is what makes Kapitolyo special, but you still need to stay alert while navigating the dark alleys.
