The Zen Side of Shopping

Most malls in Manila are giant concrete boxes designed to keep the heat out. Greenbelt is different. It is a sprawling indoor and outdoor complex that feels more like a manicured botanical garden that happens to have a Gucci store. It is the crown jewel of Makati, and for good reason.

Divided into five distinct sections, Greenbelt caters to every possible taste. You have Greenbelt 4 and 5 for the serious luxury hunters, while Greenbelt 1 and 2 offer a more relaxed, approachable vibe. In between it all is a massive park with koi ponds, statues, and even a chapel. It is the only place in the city where you can look at a window display of Italian shoes while hearing actual birds chirping in a real tree.

The Outdoor Experience

The center of Greenbelt is its park. This is where Makati’s corporate crowd comes to breathe. You will see people having business meetings over expensive lattes, couples on dates, and solo readers enjoying the shade. It stands as an exceptional example of urban design. It manages to feel exclusive and welcoming at the same time.

"There is a specific kind of quiet in Greenbelt that you just don't find elsewhere in Manila. Even with the surrounding towers of the business district looking down, the greenery manages to create a bubble of calm that is incredibly addictive."

It is also the city's premier dining destination. If you want the best steak, the most authentic Thai food, or a cocktail that looks like a piece of art, you come here. The restaurants spill out onto the walkways, creating an al fresco atmosphere that feels very un-Manila in the best way possible.
