PAGASA Science Garden is a weather station and botanical garden in Diliman, Quezon City, located near the Office of the Ombudsman. While most locals only know this name because it is constantly mentioned during typhoon broadcasts, the actual site is a quiet green facility that acts as a weather-monitoring station and research sanctuary. If you are interested in astronomy, meteorology, or simply want to walk around a massive nursery under towering green canopies, this Quezon City spot is a fascinating stop.

The facility contains a mix of scientific instruments and botanical houses. Walking around the outdoor observatory, you can see various weather equipment like solar radiation sensors, wind vanes, and automated rain gauges. If you schedule a visit at the right time, you might even witness the launching of their meteorological weather balloons. The grounds also host several greenhouses filled with orchids and ornamental plants maintained by the government. It is a peaceful contrast to the high-tech sensors, making it feel like a hybrid of a university research lab and a quiet public park.

Commuter Guide via Agham Road

Reaching the Science Garden via public transport is simple but requires a bit of walking. Take the MRT-3 and get off at North Avenue Station. From there, walk towards Trinoma and find a jeepney heading to Agham Road or BIR Road. Ask the driver to drop you off near the PAGASA Central Office or the Ombudsman building. From the drop-off, you will have to walk down the access road to the garden. Agham Road can get incredibly hot during midday, and there is minimal shade on the pedestrian lanes, so carry an umbrella. The hum of the heavy EDSA traffic fades away as soon as you enter the gated compound.
